Organising your Holiday: a Checklist

Going on holiday is wonderful and relaxing, but often, preparing to go is not. It can be a very stressful experience making sure that you are ready to travel. Here is out checklist to help you prepare for you holiday and make sure you don’t forget all of the essentials:

  • Get travel insurance. This is completely essential, wherever in the world you might be going. You will want to make sure you are covered if something happens to your or your family while you are away, so check your policy carefully. If you are doing activities like skiing and snowboarding, you will often need specialist travel insurance.
  • Pack all your important documents first. These include things like your passport, boarding passes and insurance documents. Most things can be bought once you arrive at your destination, but without these items, you might not even arrive in the first place.
  • Check in online. If you are flying, make sure you complete as much of the process as you can online. This will help to save you a lot of stress and time-consuming processes when you reach the airport.
  • Take your hotel confirmation with you. Make sure you know all the details of your booking, just in case you run into any difficulties.
  • If you are going somewhere hot, pack plenty of sun cream. You will be able to buy more, but it’s important to start out with plenty to protect delicate skin at the start of a holiday.
  • Take your driving license. You will need this if you hire a car, but often, museums and attractions will also want to keep some form of ID in exchange for things like audio guides and guidebooks. If you don’t feel comfortable using your passport, take another type of ID as well.
