In the age of the internet, it’s pretty much always possible to get a cheap holiday from somewhere, at any time of the year. However, there are a few ways of making sure that you can travel as cheaply as possible. Here are some ideas:
- Use price comparison sites. Some websites will offer better deals than others and there’s nothing worse than booking a hotel which could have been cheaper.
- If you can, don’t travel during the school holidays. If you work in education or have children and it’s unavoidable, select your destinations carefully as some will be far cheaper than others.
- Look out for ‘up and coming’ destinations. Places like Cape Verde and Sri Lanka weren’t popular until a few years ago, so if you can catch similar locations just as they’re starting to make their way onto the tourist map you’re sure to find some excellent deals.
- Book as far in advance as you can. Advance booking discounts are often available.
- Alternatively, book at the last minute. This is a great option if you’re not too fussy about where you want to go. Travel agents want their flights and hotels filled at any cost, so see what you’re able to find.
