The UK has plenty of interesting destinations for a holiday. The Scottish Highlands, the Lake District, beautiful coastlines, stunning landscapes… it’s all available, and probably not too far away either. But is it a sensible decision?
Consider the cost of a holiday in the UK. Whilst it may not be as far to travel, often the travel options will be more expensive. It might seem unbelievable, but cheap flights can actually be less expensive than a long train journey! Food, drinks and accommodation will often be more expensive too. If you enjoy eating in good restaurants on holiday, it can be much more cost effective to head to somewhere in Europe or Asia.
Of course, the weather is extremely unpredictable and this has the potential to ruin a holiday. If you’re the kind of person who loves sitting on a hot beach with a cocktail, the UK probably isn’t for you. However, if you like to be out and about in all weather conditions, absorbing the culture and scenery, there’s plenty on offer right on your doorstep.
